Parliament has launched the “Parliament and You” educational series under the theme, “Promoting Parliamentary Education Among the Young.” The initiative, a partnership between Parliament and Graphic Communications Group Limited, seeks to deepen young people’s understanding of parliamentary democracy, governance, and civic responsibility.

Launching the programme on behalf of the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, the First Deputy Speaker, Hon. Bernard Ahiafor, emphasized the need for an inclusive and far-reaching approach to civic education. He noted that investing in the education of young people and involving them in decision-making processes is the surest way to prepare them for future leadership roles.

He stressed that empowering the youth today will enable them to confidently take centre stage tomorrow.
The Majority Leader, Hon. Mahama Ayariga, and the Minority Leader, Hon. Osahen Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, described the initiative as a step in the right direction, noting that it would help children better understand parliamentary proceedings. They urged Graphic Communications Group Limited to present information accurately and in a child-friendly manner.

The Clerk to Parliament, Mr. Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror, and the Managing Director of Graphic Communications Group Limited, Mr. Ato Afful, highlighted the importance of recognizing children not only as future leaders but also as voices that deserve consideration today. They encouraged children to remain curious and committed to learning. The Minister for Communications, Digital Technology and Innovation, Hon. Samuel Nartey George, also urged the children to embrace the initiative as a valuable learning opportunity and supported the programme with the donation of 25 laptops for educational purposes.
